My Response to Dame

Writer: Zarvea McArthur

Recently there was an interview conducted by Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports where Damian Lillard said that he won’t “sell himself out” to win a title. Now, Dame is a 4x all star and has led the Portland TrailBlazers to five playoff appearances, and I agree 150% with what he said - I don’t like some of the players teaming up to create super teams. It makes the game stale in some cases because we all know that some teams can’t even come close to how good Golden State is when the team is having a good night, and we are easily able to predict who will win that game. The NBA needs to be competitive and not just one sided. There are so many great players in the league that would rather just go join a super team rather than fight one.

Don’t get me wrong, this year there are some teams on both the Eastern and Western conference that can give teams like the Warriors problems and make it a good game, but everyone wanting to team up shouldn’t be a normal thing. Unfortunately, it is. I would love to see more players like Dame that have said they are sticking to one franchise and beat super teams like the Warriors in order to win a title for the team. I would feel a great sense of achievement for it because I brought the city a win and proved to the higher-ups that they chose correctly when drafting me.
