It has been over two weeks since Cavs point guard, Kyrie Irving, told owner Dan Gilbert he wanted out of Cleveland. This came after 3 straight Finals appearances and a championship 2 seasons ago. Kyrie reportedly wants out of Cleveland because he no longer wants to be Lebron’s sidekick and wants to lead his own team.

Let’s rewind a few years, Lebron James took his talents to South Beach in 2010. He wanted out of Cleveland to pair up with two superstars, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. This was the very moment that turned the state of Ohio upside down. The whole state of Ohio was devastated, who could blame them? Is there really anything great in Ohio? Lebron James might be the best thing that has ever happened to Ohio. Fans were burning jerseys in the street, people were actually rioting about a basketball player, and who could forget Dan Gilbert’s message to the fans saying “I personally guarantee that the Cleveland Cavaliers will win an NBA Championship before the self-titled former ‘King’ wins one.” The year after Lebron left the Cavs went 19-63, they won the lottery and were granted the 1st pick in the draft. Lebron on the other hand appeared in his second NBA Finals losing to the Dallas Mavericks. Most of America was satisfied with this but little did they know this was the worst Lebron we would see.

The Cavaliers went on to draft Duke point guard, Kyrie Irving, with the first pick. Lebron went on to win back to back titles. While the Cavs went to have the first pick 3 of 4 years Lebron was in Miami. Then, Lebron came home. They sent Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and some change to the Timberwolves for Kevin Love. Lebron promised Cleveland a championship and granted it to them after defeating the 73 win Warriors and came back from a 3-1 deficit.

Then the unbelievable happened, the 73 win Warriors added on even more star power with Kevin Durant. Oklahoma City was in the same situation that Cleveland was 6 years earlier. Russell Westbrook was doing his best Dan Gilbert impression, the Warriors started dominating basketball. Kevin Durant got the same backlash as Lebron, jerseys were burned, words were said and Oklahoma was left with Andre Roberson free throws. The fans of the NBA said they would stop watching basketball, most people hated the Warriors because of the Kevin Durant move, they thought basketball was pointless because we would see Cavs vs Warriors round 3 in the Finals. Keep in mind fans hate the idea that of super teams and bringing big name players together. The fans were correct because we did have a third round of Cavs vs Warriors ending in Kevin Durant winning his first title, Russell Westbrook winning the MVP award and James Harden being one of the best point guards in the league. Oh what could have been.

This offseason the NBA became so unbalanced that fans complained the West dominates the East everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. Chris Paul is now a member of the Houston Rockets, Paul George was traded to Indiana for pennies on the dollar, Jimmy Butler and the Bulls experienced something very similar. The NBA fans are outraged about the unbalance of the league. And today I write to tell you Cleveland fans and other sports analyst are saying how ridiculous and selfish Kyrie is being.

Kyrie is everything we have wanted for 7 whole years. Kyrie is what basketball has been asking for since Lebron betrayed Cleveland. The Cavs seem to be making fun of the idea that they aren’t going to trade Irving by featuring him on the demos of their new Nike jerseys. Kyrie can ball, we tend to forget he is only 25 with a championship under his belt and playoff experience. The NBA fans can’t make up their mind on what they want, I give Kyrie all the credit in the world. He's making a big decision and to lead his own team isn't what many want to do.

What would be the perfect fit for Kyrie? The San Antonio Spurs. The Cavs would probably have a 3 team trade that would send Kevin Love to Phoenix Eric Bledsoe and LaMarcus Aldridge to Cleveland and Kyrie Irving to San Antonio. Kawhi Leonard and Kyrie Irving is scary, Kawhi is one of the best 2 way players we have seen in a long time, Kyrie is a sharp shooting guard who can thrive in Gregg Popovich system. We shouldn't hate Kyrie, even if he ends up on a team like the Knicks, he's going to thrive and he should be given the respect of the NBA fan base instead of taking the “easy way out” like most said Kevin Durant did. Irving can be in the finals by 2020 if Lebron leaves Cleveland for the Lakers, our Westbrook, Lebron & George collaboration article will be up next week.
